Astros owner Jim Crane certainly appreciates having the Ryan name associated with his team again, but was quick to point out that Reid Ryan is much more than simply the son of a famous ball player.

"It's great to have your kid in the business, but now he can prove himself as Reid Ryan," Crane said. "His dad's is a famed player, a very, very famous guy, but Reid's the kind of guy that [...]

12) Milwaukee Bra Ban
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/qYUmJAEuIBc/milwaukee-bra-ban.html

Milwaukee Bra Ban,  A historic Milwaukee bowling alley and bar almost went without the appropriate support after a city inspector decided dozens of bras hanging from its ceiling were a fire hazard.

Holler House owner Marcy Skowronski said she and some of her friends started the tradition 45 years ago, when they had a few drinks and threw their bras onto skis hanging from the bar's ceiling.

They've amassed dozens of all sizes and colors over the years, even replacing old bras with new ones at the bar's 100th anniversary five years ago. Many times people sign and date the bras or leave notes on them.

But an inspector that visited in April apparently wasn't as accepting of the tradition. She said the bras were a fire hazard and Skowronski needed to take them down.

"They've been hanging there for 45 years," Skowronski said Friday. "I had inspectors here for 45 years. Every year they [...]

Page Six is reporting that Rihanna is suing the mass brand for $5 million worth of damages for continuing to sell a graphic t-shirt that depicts an image of the superstar that wasn?t approved by her team. Additionally, the star isn?t making any royalties of the product even though it features her face.

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/TsZXnP_bi1c/sherri-shepherd-diabetes.html

Sherri shepherd diabetes, Kale and cauliflower don't exactly inspire big laughs ? unless you're talking to Sherri Shepherd.

"If you had told me a few years ago that I'd be liking kale, I'd have laughed you out of the room," she said during a recent phone interview, her voice rising with vigor. "Freaking kale? Let's face it, when you break up with someone, you do not want a bowl of asparagus. I've never heard anybody say, 'I'm so depressed, can you give me a plate of asparagus and broccoli?'"

But as she describes in her new book, "Plan D: How to Lose Weight and Beat Diabetes (Even if You Don't Have It)," getting acquainted with those veggies became necessary. Shepherd, a comedian and co-host of ABC's "The View," was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2007. The formal diagnosis came after years of ignoring doctors' warnings that she was prediabetic ? a wakeup call that led to her current [...]

16) McDonalds streamlining menu
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/FdCEtfn7f_s/mcdonalds-streamlining-menu.html

McDonalds streamlining menu, Engaged in a race to boost more traffic and same-store-sales than competitors, fast food chains have understandably gone the route of adding more menu items. Over the years those menus have become bloated. Bloomberg reporter Leslie Patton looks into whether that complexity in menus is now coming back to bite.

She reports that there are signs bellwether fast food giant McDonald's may trim down its menu of 145 choices. The Angus burgers, fruit & walnut salad, chicken selects and more may soon be heading to the chopping block.

"It's gotten to the point where the operation has kind of broken down and that's all a symptom of the complication of the menu," said Richard Adams, a San Diego-based restaurant franchisee consultant and former McDonald's store owner. "They can't make the food fast enough."

?A comprehensive menu isn't all that important to fast-food [...]

17) Bruce irvin suspended
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/FB8y4QC7qG8/bruce-irvin-suspended.html

Bruce irvin suspended, There was plenty going on in the NFL on Friday, and if you missed the pertinent Robert Griffin III, Rob Gronkowski and Bruce Irvin news, then read on for the roundup.

The Chicago Bears became the third team to sign all of their draft picks, inking first-round pick Kyle Long to a four-year deal with an option for a fifth. Long was the No. 20 pick, and getting him signed is just one fewer thing for him to have to worry about.

He'll miss the rest of Chicago's offseason minicamp programs due to Oregon's finals schedule and won't return until June 14, so this was probably something the two sides were motivated to get done.

During the 2013 NFL Draft, it was big news when Griffin III was walking around and even jumping during the Washington Redskins' draft-day festivities. His recovery from injury will be the biggest news through training camp, preseason and possibly [...]

$446 waitress tip, If service with a smile results in a good tip, then Steak n? Shake waitress CeCe Bruce is smiling from ear to ear.

Bruce, a waitress for the past two years at a Steak n? Shake in Indianapolis, is $446 richer after a longtime customer left her a tip in that amount on a $5.97 order.

The customer, identified only as Miss Jo, eats at her local Steak n? Shake at least once a week and was evidently feeling very generous when she came in for breakfast Wednesday morning.

?She asked me if she could leave me a ridiculously large tip, but I did not know that it was that large,? said Bruce, who described Miss Jo as a middle-aged woman ? ?my angel.?

?She didn?t even give me time to tell her, ?Thank you,? or anything,? Bruce said.  ?When I went back to get my manager, [...]

20) Justin bieber monkey
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/MXALBj7dCGw/justin-bieber-monkey.html

Justin bieber monkey, The Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber will have to pay thousands of euros to an animal shelter caring for the pet monkey seized two months ago by German customs officials.

The customs office in Munich said Bieber has until midnight on Friday to contact them, otherwise Mally, the singer's capuchin monkey, would become "property of the state" and would be transferred to a permanent home at a zoo or animal park elsewhere in Germany.

Mally was seized by German customs on 28 March when Bieber, 19, failed to produce required vaccination and import papers after landing in Munich while on tour. It was quarantined and cared for at the city's animal shelter, where the manager, Karl Heinz Joachim, said Mally, now 20 weeks old, had fared well and gained weight.

The shelter has criticised Bieber for keeping such a young monkey as a pet, saying the animal should not have been [...]

21) American idol ratings
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/XLa_BYNDNpI/american-idol-ratings.html

American idol ratings, The numbers are in on the American Idol season 12 finale, and it?s not a pretty picture. The Fox show saw a dip of more than 40 percent from the 2012 season closer, losing some 7 million viewers to come in at a 3.6 rating among adults 18-49. Total viewers equaled 14.3 million -- the first time a finale has not reached the 20-million mark since the show first aired in 2002.

What went wrong? You could place the blame on any number of factors: from viewer fatigue and a stale formula as the show closes its 12th year, the bad chemistry at the judges? table, which brought in two feuding pop divas that barely glanced at each other, competition from NBC?s The Voice, which has also seen ratings decline in its fourth season, and a less than enthralling contestant pool clearly positioned to hoist two girls to the finish line.

Also impacting the show?s numbers: the fact [...]

Ceo sues over firing, The former CEO of Tuesday Morning has filed a discrimination lawsuit against the discount retailer, saying she was fired just months after revealing she had breast cancer.

The lawsuit by Kathleen Mason follows a discrimination filing with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission this summer. Mason's lawyer, Rogge Dunn, says she was fired during a phone call last June, even though she had overseen the company's growth during her tenure.

Dunn has said that Mason informed the board of her cancer so they wouldn't be alarmed if she began losing her hair or growing gaunt as a result of treatment. But he has said the board's attitude toward her began to change soon after, with members contacting her subordinates directly. At one point when Mason was wearing a wig, Dunn said one board member made a sarcastic comment about how nice her hair looked.

23) Mariah carey lip sync american idol
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/mqS4pzSclAM/mariah-carey-lip-sync-american-idol.html

Mariah carey lip sync american idol, Mariah Carey is known as one of the greatest singers of all time. She was hired this year, for a whopping $18 million, to judge other singers on "American Idol." So when she gave a performance on Thursday night's "Idol" finale that seemed more appropriate for another talent show, "RuPaul's Drag Race" ? that is, she appeared to be lip-synching for her life ? well, it was not a tour de force, dahling.

Mariah's performance, which was actually pre-taped the night before the finale, featured the diva "singing" a medley of her greatest hits, including "Hero," "Vision of Love," "We Belong Together," "Make it Happen," and "My All."

But did she really make it happen? Was she really giving her all? It seemed like Mariah's onstage wind-machine was more operational than her microphone this Thursday. You be the judge:A representative for Mariah exclusively told [...]

24) Cannes jewel heist
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/0MpJA2NFlUI/cannes-jewel-heist.html

It could have been the plot of a Hollywood blockbuster: a thief creeps into a Cannes hotel room after dark and effortlessly makes off with over $1m worth of jewels destined to be worn by stars on the red carpet of the film festival.

The massive jewellery theft in the early hours of Friday was quickly likened to a scene from Alfred Hitchcock's 1950s Riviera robbery thriller, To Catch a Thief, with Cary Grant and Grace Kelly, where a mysterious cat burglar snatches the jewels of the rich and famous on the Côté d'Azur.

But stranger still was the fact that the robbery took place just as all flashbulbs and press packs were focusing on Thursday night's premiere of Sofia Coppola's new film the Bling Ring, based on the true story of a group of suburban Los Angeles teenagers who stole luxury goods, jewels and watches from the houses of the rich and famous out of a desire to possess their [...]

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/pdEh1ovDcCw/6-bill-446-tip.html

$6 bill, $446 tip, CeCe Bruce said she's known for years that it pays to be nice. But she never realized just how much it could pay off until this week, when one of her regular customers rewarded her with a huge tip.

A part-time student at Martin University in Indianapolis, Ind., Bruce has worked as a waitress at a local Steak 'n Shake restaurant for two years, according to NBC affiliate WTHR. Though she had received a few generous tips during that time, nothing had prepared her for the generosity of Miss Jo, a frequent patron of the restaurant.

When Bruce first picked up Miss Jo's credit card receipt Wednesday morning, she said she thought the tip was $46, which she told WTHR would have been surprising enough, given that the bill was just $5.97. But the tip was actually a jaw-dropping $446.

"When I looked again, I said 'Oh my gosh, Miss Jo, I'm not taking that!' And she said, 'Yes, [...]
