1) Singer sues McDonald?s, claiming glass in chicken ruined singing voice
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/YkWeG0_Tq10/singer-sues-mcdonalds-claiming-glass-in.html

Singer sues McDonald?s, claiming glass in chicken ruined singing voice, A gospel singer sues McDonald?s after claiming that she found a large piece of glass in her chicken sandwich and can no longer sing as she once could, UPI reported May 21.

The singer apparently has lost her golden voice after dining under the golden arches of McDonald?s.

The singer suing McDonald?s says that she bit into a piece of glass larger than a penny when she was eating her chicken sandwich from the fast-food restaurant.

The singer, Jacqueline Simpson, 52, filed the lawsuit against McDonald?s in Brooklyn Supreme Court this week. Simpson says that she bit into the glass in her chicken sandwich at a Broadway McDonald?s near the World Trade Center in May 2010.

In her lawsuit, the gospel singer says that biting into the glass caused her to lose her voice. She says that she now has a hoarse, ?rattly? voice and [...]

2) Tornado death toll lowered
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/NfIVCtp8o8o/tornado-death-toll-lowered.html

Tornado death toll lowered, Earthquakes and floods constantly crop up in international headlines, but tornadoes often seem like a uniquely American misfortune.

In part, that's true: The United States sees the most tornadoes in the world, with an average of more than 1,000 tornadoes each year. Canada is second, with around 100 per year, and all other countries combined experience another 100 to 200 tornadoes annually. Measuring by land area, the United Kingdom has a higher rate than any other country, but most of the twisters there are relatively weak.

Tornadoes occur when land is wedged between dry air on one side and warm, moist air on another -- exactly the circumstances the central U.S.'s so-called "Tornado Alley" unfortunately finds itself in. Then there's the more obvious reason: The U.S. is really big, and the more land you have, the more likely natural disasters are to strike [...]

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/2jAR_xwnWQU/lapd-officer-arrested.html

LAPD officer arrested, A Los Angeles police officer was arrested Saturday, accused of molesting at least two young girls who he allegedly lured into his home.

Officer Miguel Schiappapietra, 28, a six-year veteran of the force, is expected in court Tuesday to face two counts of lewd acts with a child.

Both victims are under the age of 10, said Sgt. Brian Hudson of the LA County Sheriff's Department Special Victims Bureau.

Hudson said Schiappapietra moved into the Castaic community just five weeks ago, and was most recently stationed at the LAPD's Foothill Station.

Schiappapietra, who is himself a father of young children, is being held on $100,000 bail.

4) Proposal prank Washington Wizards Game Operations
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/aidJJAHNU5I/proposal-prank-washington-wizards-game.html

Proposal prank Washington Wizards Game Operations, As the Wizards game on Friday, February 20th ended, 15,711 fans streamed out from MCI Center, still abuzz with what they witnessed.

Sure, the game was entertaining, and both the Wizards and Pacers played hard, but a spoof during a break in the action stole the show.

Conceived in mischief, and executed without flaw, the Washington Wizards Game Operations department pulled off the prank of the year, simultaneously bewildering and wildly entertaining thousands that could not believe their eyes.

It started as a routine timeout contest, not unlike the one that occurs at every other Wizards home game. A fan, seemingly chosen at random, is pulled from the crowd, brought on the court and blindfolded. Then, according to the cheers or boos from the crowd, the fan navigates the court in search of an inflatable Chevy Chase Bank mascot waiting [...]

5) You cannot do this now Footy Show rejection
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/vKvO0V3P4d0/you-cannot-do-this-now-footy-show.html

You cannot do this now Footy Show rejection, A proposal rejection video that went viral over a year ago was definitely a prank, according to a closely affiliated source.

The "Footy Show," which is a show about Australian rules football, ran a segment which critics dubbed the "proposal rejection" where a man took to a stage before a live audience to propose to his surprised girlfriend of three years.

A spokesperson for Channel 9, the network which broadcasts the show, later confirmed that the proposal was a stunt, according to news.com.au.

"It was a set up to have a go at Fatty (host Paul Vautin) because it was his 50th birthday on Tuesday. He wasn't in on it," the spokesperson said in a statement.

However, prior to that confirmation many viewers were left assuming that the proposal was genuine and could not help but pity the aspiring groom "Peter" whose supposed girlfriend [...]

6) Two marriage proposals rejected NFL game
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/qlg9lrGiImw/two-marriage-proposals-rejected-nfl-game.html

Two marriage proposals rejected NFL game, As someone who absolutely loves the Kiss Cam, I have to say that the big screen, sporting event marriage proposal is far too painful for my taste. Everything about it just feels wrong. Maybe it?s because I don?t have the stomach to witness the possible rejection.

During the December 23 game between the UCLA Bruins and Richmond Spiders, the UCLA in-game entertainment gurus decided to spread a little holiday cheer with what they call the Mistletoe Cam, which is essentially the Kiss Cam but more? festive. With the Kiss Cam, there?s nothing quite like seeing two people make an on-the-spot decision in front of thousands of fans, while a bunch of drunk dudes yell, ?Don?t do it!!? It?s an ?instant smile? moment. The stakes are super low. If you don?t kiss, oh well. But when it comes to marriage proposals? this is big time, baby.

After the set up of [...]

7) Francisco Hernandez allegedly attempting to run down ex
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/9uH4ee-NJNA/francisco-hernandez-allegedly.html

Francisco Hernandez allegedly attempting to run down ex, A Whittier man has been arrested for allegedly trying to run down his ex-girlfriend after she turned down his marriage proposal.

Officials said Francisco Hernandez, 22, was spotted walking down the street after the incident, carrying a bouquet of flowers.

He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, said Lt. Andrew Berg of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The incident took place Thursday afternoon at Burger Stop, a restaurant on Slauson Avenue in Pico Rivera, where Hernandez had proposed to the woman, Berg said.

Hernandez's car had the proposal ?Stacy Will You Marry Me?? written on the back window of his car, according to reports.

"She said no. He was a little unhappy with that," Berg said.

Hernandez allegedly drove onto the sidewalk through some bushes and into the restaurant parking lot, narrowly missing [...]

8) Roy Williams sued to get ring back
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/p712ig89AnE/roy-williams-sued-to-get-ring-back.html

Roy Williams sued to get ring back, Dallas Cowboys? wide receiver Roy Williams has 99 problems, and the ongoing NFL lockout is just one of them.

The Odessa American reported that Williams is suing his former girlfriend Brooke Daniels in an attempt to get back a $75,000 engagement ring which he sent to her in February. Williams apparently sent Daniels the ring, some money for dental bills and a taped wedding proposal by mail (yes, by mail!) in an attempt to woo the former 2009 Miss Texas.

When his romantic overture failed to bear fruit (how could she resist?) Williams requested the ring back. After Daniels claimed the ring had been lost, it turned out her father had it in his possession.

Michael Daniels disputed Williams? account:

"He said (to Brooke Daniels), 'I'm not like a lot of people, I don't want the ring back. You'll eventually come back to me,' and she didn't."

Michael [...]

9) New Jersey sinkhole
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/sBIMNRNFu6I/new-jersey-sinkhole_21.html

New Jersey sinkhole, A New Jersey sinkhole has swallowed up a man working on a forklift truck on Monday, in the latest terrifying sinkhole to hit the nation. In this case the man survived and was later rescued, but the incident has again highlighted the issue of sinkholes.

An emergency call was made to 911 on Monday afternoon reporting that a man and his forklift machine had been swallowed up by a giant hole that opened up from underneath them in an East Rutherford warehouse.

However, unlike some recent sinkholes that have opened up in Florida this year, this hole was more open and not as deep, and once emergency crews arrived they were able to locate and pull out injured worker, Danny Rodriguez from the hole.

After being dragged out of the 10 foot deep sinkhole, he was immediately rushed to a local hospital for treatment and to be checked over. It is reported that he suffered some [...]

10) Kourtney Proposal I?m Happy With The Way Things Are
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/w7U4z-boHII/kourtney-proposal-im-happy-with-way.html

Kourtney Proposal I?m Happy With The Way Things Are, Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick have recently announced that their second child is on the way, however are they holding back on another big announcement? Sources close to the family say the on-and-off-again couple may be jumping the broom any day now.

It has been a rocky road for the couple as their relationship issues have been broadcasted on the string of the Kardashian reality TV shows these past few years. But even after all the drama, Disick decided he wanted to make Kourtney his wife and become ?that real, legitimate family,? after having their first child.

On the first season finale of ?Kourtney & Kim Take New York,? Scott proposed to Kourtney only for her to reject the proposal, saying ?Things are so good now, why would we want to change that?? Kardashian said. ?I?m happy with the way things are.?

However, Kourtney may [...]

11) Westboro tornado blame
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/sY9NlZePOCw/westboro-tornado-blame.html

Westboro tornado blame, A prominent member of the Westboro Baptist Church is drawing a link between the Oklahoma tornado's devastation and a local team's support for openly gay NBA star Jason Collins.

Fred Phelps Jr., the son of Westboro Baptist Church minister Fred Phelps, tweeted the following:

OK Thunder's Durant flips God by praising fag Collins.  God smashes OK. You do the math.

Later, Phelps added:

God's wonderful wrath in Oklahoma reminds me:

It isn't the first time that an anti-gay pundit has attempted to blame a natural disaster to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. In 2012, chaplain John McTernan linked Hurricane Sandy (and a number of other recent weather-related trends and natural disasters) on LGBT people and President Barack Obama's backing of marriage equality.

"God is systematically destroying America," McTernan wrote at the time. "Just [...]

Hasselhoff Twitter fans "Where should I pop the question next??, David Hasselhoff has asked fans to name the perfect place for him to propose to girlfriend Hayley Roberts after she turned him down twice over the weekend (17-18Sep11).

The former Baywatch star began dating the Welsh beauty earlier this year (11) after they met on the set of U.K. TV show Britain's Got Talent, where Hasselhoff sits as a judge.

The actor recently whisked Roberts away for a romantic break in Cape Town, South Africa, where he decided to pop the question to his new love - only to be turned down.

Hasselhoff then posted a photo of himself on bended knee in front of the blonde on his Twitter.com page, with the caption, "I tried to pop the question but she was having none of it... Where should I pop the question next?"

The 59 year old later offered Roberts his hand in marriage in a backstage dressing room, but [...]

13) Proposal on Ellen "I can't, I can't!"
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/829R7nxg1L0/proposal-on-ellen-i-cant-i-cant.html

Proposal on Ellen "I can't, I can't!", Did viewers witness a marriage proposal that went horribly wrong on The Ellen DeGeneres Show or was it all staged?

It all started when Ellen told audience members she had a letter she wanted to read.

"Dear Ellen, there is only one thing I love more than your show and that is my beautiful girlfriend," she read. The letter was written by a man named Jacob who wrote of his plans to bring his girlfriend to the show and propose to her on TV.

"I would love to surprise her on your show by asking her to spend the rest of her life with me," Ellen read, before bringing Jacob out on stage.

The cameras panned to a woman, presumably his girlfriend, sitting in the audience, with her hands on her mouth and a shocked look on her face.

"Are you nervous?" Ellen asked Jacob.

"Extremely!" he said, before walking over to his girlfriend sitting in the [...]

14) UCLA proposal girl ran away
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/AgHwhkdprH4/ucla-proposal-girl-ran-away.html

UCLA proposal girl ran away, A budding groom-to-be?s very public marriage proposal went horribly wrong when he was snubbed in front of a crowd of basketball fans.

The lovestruck man chose the big screen at a UCLA game to pop the question to his unsuspecting girlfriend ? who then rejected his proposal and ran away.

The couple were caught on the ?mistletoe cam? at the basketball game in California when the man went down on one knee.

In front of a crowded court he said: ?I knew I was going to do this the first day I met you, so I know this is going to sound corny but? will you marry me??

But, instead of saying ?Yes? and jumping into his arms, the mortified girlfriend took one look at the ring, and shook her head as she seemed to ask ?Is this a joke??

The devastated boyfriend was left on his knees, wiping his eyes, as his love grabbed her bag and left.

To add insult to injury, the [...]

15) Ray Rice robbed
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/DazlkqTDOO4/ray-rice-robbed.html

Ray Rice robbed, Ray Rice and his family are safe and sound today.

But the same cannot be said of two guns and $2,000 in cash belonging to the All-Pro running back.

That is what a thief made off with at some point on Friday or Saturday, according to police, as a friend staying at Rice's Maryland home reported a robbery.

Cops are looking at surveillance video of the criminal entering through a rear window and ransacking the residence and are hopeful an arrest can be made this week.

Says Rice in a statement to USA Today: "My family and I are fine, which is the most important thing."

"This is an unfortunate incident that I am dealing with through the proper channels.''

16) Famous baseball proposals
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/WJGz5rFfEdo/famous-baseball-proposals.html

Famous baseball proposals, So. Time to take Marlins Park and: A) Disassemble it; B) Crate it; C) Sell It; D) Ship it to San Jose (or Oakland, or Portland, or San Bernardino, Austin/San Antonio/Round Rock, or ? wherever).

Now that the Miami experiment is over (as forecast here a year ago next week, and reiterated here last June) and Hanley Ramirez, Heath Bell, Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson, and the merely arbitration-eligible Emilio Bonifacio have either been offloaded in A Going-Out-Of-Business-Sale (or are about to be), the Marlins are officially the Montreal Expos of the 2010?s and baseball is unofficially dead in Florida.

Notice I did not write South Florida. All of it. Rays? owner Stu Sternberg was already less than sanguine about getting significant scratch from the state and local governments for a new ballpark that is absolutely essential to his survival in Tampa/St. [...]

19) ESPN layoffs
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/NewsTerm/~3/A1nlEO16hgs/espn-layoffs.html

ESPN layoffs, ESPN just released a statement confirming the cuts, which were first reported by Deadspin. Said the company: ?We are implementing changes across the company to enhance our continued growth while smartly managing costs.

While difficult, we are confident that it will make us more competitive, innovative and productive.? If the language sounds familiar, it?s because it is: ESPN is 80% owned by Disney (Hearst owns the other 20%), which has gone division by division to cut costs over the past month or so.

Layoffs have already hit the Walt Disney Studios unit (150 layoffs in film, theatrical and music departments) and shuttered LucasArts, the video game division of Disney?s newly acquired Lucasfilm. Previously, Disney Interactive laid off about 50 employees.

Now not even super-profitable ESPN, which has about 7,000 employees overall, is immune to the cost-cutting review, and [...]

Wife Douses Husband, He was trying to do the right thing by protecting his wife from a home run ball - but this husband learned the hard way that acts of chivalry will get him nowhere.

A hilarious video captures the moment she doused him with beer after he managed to spill a little of his own over her while jumping to protect her.

The couple were watching the Chicago Cubs take on the New York Mets at Wrigley Field on Sunday, when Cubs pitcher Travis Wood smacked a ball into the bleachers.

In an attempt to protect his wife, the man leapt into the air - and spilled some of his beer.

'I just got livid,' the woman, identified only as Ellen, told MLB, laughing. 'And took my beer and splooshed it in his face. I figured if I'm wet, he might as well be wet too.'

She has since claimed that the incident has left her vocal chords impaired, and that her voice has ultimately been destroyed by the adverse affects she encountered from swallowing the piece of glass.

Simpson has now decided to file a lawsuit against McDonald's and is looking for damages for her ruined singing career. She reportedly filed the lawsuit in Brooklyn last week.
